Change of venue

The following boys have so far been nominated by their schools (and clubs) to take part in our trials to be held on Friday 27th August 2010. 9:30am meet at Hawthorn High School.*

*DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES the venue has had to be changed.
Please note that whilst there will be changing rooms available at the High School due to maintenance work there will be no showers.
All boys need to bring their own kit. They will then be given a shirt to wear only in the trial matches.

TRIAL TEAMS AND POSITIONS
We will not be picking sides for the trial matches until the day. There are many reasons for this; a number of the players are listed in more than one position; so we will ask them to suggest their preferred position. Some players may change positions over the summer. Some players will not turn up and extra players will turn up who are not listed here. It is worth noting that no-one will have played back row before at club level and Y5 ‘triallists’ may not have much experience of playing in formal positions.

SQUAD SELECTION
We will be looking to select our District squad with the best players in it. Many positions will be decided later –a second choice outside half may be a first choice centre, a second choice hooker may be a first choice flanker etc…

TIMESCALE/SELECTION PROCESS
Further trials will be held on the following Thursdays and Saturdays. (But not the 28th August)
Last season following the trials an expanded squad was chosen to play in the first two fixtures. After these games a final squad was selected. Players who were unsuccessful at this stage were offered the opportunity to be part of our Development Squad from which additional players were then sometimes called up if & as required. As the season progressed (after Christmas) the emphasis on ‘Development Players’ shifts toward U/10 Year 5 players.

COMMITMENT
For those selected; training Sessions will be held every Thursday throughout term time. Inter District Fixtures will take place(roughly) every-other Saturday as indicated on the WRU fixture matrix where each weekend is designated either as School or Club. We will not play Inter-District games on a ‘Club’ weekend and the WRU recommend that players who play for us on a Schools’ weekend should not play for their clubs the next day.
